Tax changes from 1 August 2023

From 01.08.2023 г. the following tax changes enter into force:

  • Salary
  • Companies with more than 100 employees will be obliged to pay their employees' salaries only by bank transfer.
  • Dividends to shareholders above BGN 1,000 will be paid by bank transfer from 01.09.2023.
  • Cash desk
  • Companies with cash registers will be required to declare their cash balances on a quarterly basis.
  • The declaration is submitted to the NRA by the end of the month following the quarter.
  • Free basic bank account
  • Individuals will be able to open a free basic bank account.
  • This account will be exempt from service and withdrawal fees, as well as fees when withdrawing from an ATM owned by the servicing bank.
  • Important
  • If you have any questions about the tax changes, you can contact the NRA.
  • From the moment you receive money on any other occasion in the free basic bank account, the free use is automatically cancelled and the bank's tariff fees start to apply.
